Culture

We preserve and promote Indigenous knowledge, languages, arts, and traditions through community-driven initiatives such as culture clubs, storytelling forums, and sacred site protection.

Social Harmony

We build bridges between communities through peace forums, inter-cultural celebrations, and traditional conflict resolution mechanisms.

Environment

We safeguard sacred sites and ecosystems, blending traditional ecological knowledge with modern conservation approaches.

Livelihoods

We support sustainable, culturally-aligned economic opportunities to enhance community resilience and reduce vulnerability.

Our Story

Founded in 2009, Kivulini Trust is a non-profit, non-political institution registered under the Trustees Act of Kenya. We are rooted in the heart of Northern Kenya, where we work hand-in-hand with pastoralist, fishing, and minority communities to preserve cultural heritage, promote social harmony, and support sustainable development.

Our name, Kivulini—meaning “in the shade”—symbolizes a safe, inclusive space where communities can reconnect with their identity, heritage, and the land that sustains them.
