HALCHA WOMEN
Focus areas: Cultural dances, poverty reduction and Music
Halcha Women Group comprises of women and few men who mainly belong to the Oromo-speaking Sakuyye who are traditional camel herders. The group’s primary activities are cultural dances, poverty reduction and promotion of peaceful coexistence between neighboring communities through music. Halcha’s cultural village is located adjacent to the Shaba and Buffalo Springs Game reserves in Isiolo district.
GOSE COMMUNITY BASED ORGANIZATION
Focus areas: Culture and Social Economic Development
Gotu Shaba and El-Adhi resource user’s association (GOSE) is a community based organization that brings together residents who use Gotu, chaffa and El-adha water points. Its Mission is to develop mechanisms and systems based on cultural principles to safe guard cultural and natural resources for social economic development and independence. It is based at Boji Dera next to Shaba national reserve in Isiolo County.
GUYASA COMMUNITY BASED ORGANIZATION
Focus areas: Culture, Environmental Conservation and Poverty Alleviation
Guyasa CBO is a community bases organization whose primary activities includes cultural festivals, acquiring and presenting artifacts, environmental conservation, enhancement of traditional knowledge, peaceful building and poverty alleviation through utilization of natural resources. Guyasa is located in Kinna, Garba Tulla Sub- County in Isiolo County.

DAMESA is a community based non-religious, non-political and non-profit making organization working to enhance the revival and promotion of the Cushitic culture and identity through set of cultural activities including cultural festivals. Damesa is located in Kula Mawe, Garba Tulla Sub- County in Isiolo County.
ILERET COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT INITIATIVE
Focus areas: Rights for the Marginalized people
ICDI is a community-based organization founded by local community members who are concerned with the marginalization of their (Daasanach) community. The mission of ICDI is to assist the Daasanach community in their desire and aspirations for a positive change by building on their cultural strengths through education, training and exposure. Group is based in Illeret.
HURRI HILLS NYABURSO GROUP
Focus areas: Cultural Heritage and Social Economic Development
The purpose of Hurri Hills Nyuburso group is to improve the social and economic status of the Waata community and to promote the state of their cultural heritage. The group is composed of the members of the Waata Community of Hurri Hills.
ILERET COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT INITIATIVE
Focus area: Economic Empowerment
Gurapau (“People of water”) whose vision is “to make El-Molo people be self-reliant” is a registered indigenous CBO established and managed by members of the El-Molo community. It is based at El-Molo Bay, Loiyangalani, on the eastern shores of Lake Turkana.
THE GABBRA YAA ASSEMBLIES
Focus area: Culture
The Gabbra have five Yaa, a large village, one for each of the five Gabbra phratries. It is a ritual center where the most solemn ceremonies take place. The Yaa is also a political centre where most important decisions affecting the particular phratry and by extension, the entire Gabbra community are made.

WASO TRUSLAND PROJECT
Focus areas: Land rights and Economic Empowerment
Waso Trustland Project is a community initiative formed to agitate for the land rights of the pastoral people of the district who are being dis-empowered and rendered landless by arbitrary land allocation processes and by escalating land grabbing activities by both politically and economically powerful individuals. The organization is based in Isiolo County.
KALACHA WOMEN GROUP
Focus areas: Cultural dances, Promotion of modern education, and Social Economic Development
The Kalacha Women Group is made up of the members of the Gabbra community whose primary activities are cultural dances, poverty reduction and promotion of cultural and formal education.
Located in Kalacha, the group strives to retain their cultural practices while engaging in activities to create opportunities for cultural expression, knowledge transmission and sustainable livelihoods for themselves and for the wider community.
SELLA CULTURAL GROUP
Focus areas: Cultural Heritage & Social Economic Development
The Sella cultural group is composed of the members of the Waata Community of North Horr. The purpose of the group is to improve the social and economic status of the community and to promote the state of their cultural heritage.
ARDHA JILLA ECOLOGICAL MANAGEMENT GROUP
Focus areas: Culture and Peace Promotion & Land rights
AJEMA is a registered local CBO located at the foot of the scared Mountain of Forole on the Kenya-Ethiopia borderland. The objectives of the group are to safeguard the integrity of the region’s cultural and natural heritage sites which are of spiritual importance to the Gabbra people. The group aims to achieve these through documentation, promotion of peaceful coexistence and community-based resource management. See our Projects.
HURRI HILLS TUMTU BIDII GROUP
Focus areas: Culture and Welfare for Members
he Hurri Hills Tumtu Bidii group operates in the Chalbi Desert area of Marsabit County in support of their art/craft and the welfare of their members who compose of those who have knowledge and practice blacksmith work and those with the desire to gain such knowledge. The group composes of the Konso community who live on the Hurri Hills of Northern Kenya.
